How I Score Cheap Flights Despite Post-Pandemic Price Hikes

Have you noticed how travel has changed since the pandemic? It’s not just the restrictions and lockdowns; flight prices have skyrocketed, making it difficult for travelers worldwide to book affordable trips. But I’ve found a way to travel cheaply, even with these rising costs, and I’m going to show you how.

My Journey with Travel Costs

Before the pandemic, finding cheap flights was a lot easier. I remember booking international roundtrip flights for as little as $320. Those were the days when travel felt accessible, and I could plan spontaneous trips without emptying my wallet.

Then the pandemic hit, and everything changed. Flights were canceled, trips were postponed, and when travel finally resumed, the prices were through the roof. The same flights that used to cost me $320 were now listed at almost double the price—well over $600. And it wasn’t just me; travelers everywhere were facing these soaring costs.

Why Have Flights Become So Expensive?

Demand Outpaces Supply

During the pandemic, airlines were forced to reduce their number of flights due to low demand. Now that travel is back in full swing, demand has surged, but the supply of available seats hasn’t kept up. Airlines are not rushing to increase their fleets, meaning fewer planes and fully booked flights at much higher prices.

Rising Operational Costs

The cost of running airlines has also skyrocketed. Jet fuel prices have nearly doubled in the past year, and the industry is facing a shortage of pilots and crew members. Airlines are passing these costs on to us, the travelers, in the form of more expensive tickets.

The Struggle to Find Affordable Flights

With all these factors in play, finding cheap flights often feels like an impossible task. I’ve spent countless hours on various flight search engines, hoping to find a decent deal before it’s gone. I tried setting alerts on popular platforms like Google Flights and Skyscanner, but I still struggled to catch the best deals.

Even with these tools, prices fluctuated so much that I often missed the lowest fares. It was frustrating, especially when I knew there had to be a better way.

Discovering RatePunk – My Secret Weapon for Cheap Flights

That’s when I found RatePunk, a service that completely changed how I book flights. RatePunk isn’t just another flight search engine—it’s a subscription service that curates flight deals based on your preferences and delivers them straight to your inbox.

Here’s how it works: You sign up with your email, choose your home airport, and tell RatePunk where you’d like to travel. The system then sends you highly curated flight deals, making it easy to find the best offers. I was skeptical at first, but I gave it a shot.

How RatePunk Helped Me Save Big on Flights

Within days, I started receiving flight deals that felt too good to be true. For instance, I recently booked a roundtrip flight for just $200 while others on the same plane paid over $600. The savings were unbelievable!

In March 2024 alone, RatePunk sent out deals like:

  •  New York to Tokyo for $378

  •  Sydney to Bangkok for $119

  •  London to Los Angeles for $387

  •  Dubai to Paris for $473

These are all real, roundtrip deals! While average flight prices may have gone up, RatePunk finds those hidden gems that let you travel for a fraction of the cost.

Why RatePunk is Better than Google Flights and Skyscanner for Finding Deals

At first, I wondered how RatePunk could possibly outperform the big names like Google Flights and Skyscanner, both of which offer flight alerts. Here’s what I discovered:

Curated and Personalized Deals

While other platforms provide general alerts, RatePunk sends tailored deals that match your specific preferences. It’s not just another generic notification; each email is personalized, ensuring that the offers you get are relevant and timely.

Exclusive Access to Hidden Deals

RatePunk’s system scans the web 24/7 to find the absolute best deals, including special fares that aren’t always easy to spot on other platforms. Their partnerships and insider knowledge help them uncover deals that most travelers miss.

Ease of Use and Convenience

Instead of spending hours searching for flights, you receive an email with the best deals for your route. It’s hassle-free and saves a lot of time, allowing you to book flights effortlessly.

My Honest Review of RatePunk

Since subscribing to RatePunk, I’ve been able to book multiple trips at prices that I thought were impossible in this post-pandemic world. The convenience alone is worth it. Recently, I booked a roundtrip flight to an international destination for just $119, something I never thought I’d see again.

RatePunk has consistently helped me travel for less, and it feels amazing to explore new places without breaking the bank.

This is good advice! I like the idea of getting delas from my airport without me spending 3 days searching for them!

I swear flights are so much harder to afford these days. It’s like you can’t even plan a simple vacation without spending a fortune!!!!!!
Lets see if your advice helps with that

Flight prices after the pandemic have been wild. I used to be able to find decent deals, but now everything seems twice as expensive, no matter when I look

I already signed up for your service, but I don’t know how to find potential flights for where I want to go on November 29th

Victoria says:

Hi, as RatePunk is not a search engine, there is no option to search for flights deals for specific departure dates.
But on the dashboard, you have the option to explore potential deals on the flight deals section with different filters such as “weekend”, “last minute”, “international” and “domestic”.

Looking for tickets from LAX to Bkk and back to LAX
3 tickets for 3 adults
Also 1 ticket business class to Guam

Victoria says:

Thank you for your comment.
You can choose LAX as your departure airport and you will get deals from that Airport. You can also upgrade to Elite to receive business deals.
Unfortunately, the service at the moment does not allow direct searches for destinations, as it is not a search engine, but instead sends you the best deals it finds from your departure airport.

Jesse says:

No mention is made about what classes of cabin is available is it only economy or do they cover first and Business classes as well?

Victoria says:

Thank you for your comment.
The main subscription covers the economy class flights, but there is an option to upgrade to Elite subscription and receive business class deals as well.
